NBA Action: It's Crap-tastic!
Let me start by saying I'm barely a fan of the NBA. I only know what goes on in the league during the regular season from what I see on SportsCenter. But, sometimes, if it's a boring night, I might tune in a little during the playoffs, which brings me to the reason for this blog. Against almost every ounce of fact and logic, NBA talking heads will tell you scoring is down league-wide because of "good defense." Hmmmmmmm. And during those long, lonely nights in high school I told myself girls wouldn't go out with me because I was "just too nice." Either of those arguments is a blatant lie. You want proof about the NBA? Let's look at tonight's EASTERN CONFERENCE FINAL GAME (keep in mind one of these two teams will be in the NBA Championship in about a week):
Final Score: Detroit 72, Indiana 67.
Detroit made 23 of 66 shots for a whopping 35%.
Not to be outdone, Indiana made 22 of 80 shots for 28%!
That means 3/4 of 1 basket was made per minute. The fans must've been on the edge of their seats. Remember that game NBA Jam where each team was made up of 2 really good players and you played 2-on-2? Well, that's the NBA in 2004. Every team has 2 really good players and 3 other stiffs on the court that pass the ball and draw a paycheck. What a joke.
